The Ahrntal Valley – it’s worth the trip

Ahrntal Valley, on the sunny side of the Zillertal Valley Alps, is best described as a place unknown to many, yet it has become a second home for many others. This valley, nestled in a majestic scenery of 80 mountains with heights over 3.000 metres, forms the northernmost part of Italy, and is, as well, the northernmost recreational and hiking paradise in South Tyrol.

Arrival by airplane in Bozen (Bolzano), express highway to Brixen (Bressanone), then public road to Bruneck (Brunico), turn off in a northern direction into the 40 km long Tauferer Ahrntal Valley.

We offer to guests Tyrolean comfort and hospitality in hotels, pension-houses with all comforts, simple inns, private lodgings, holiday apartments and lodging in farm houses.

In our valley you will find tranquillity, quiet and near nature as well as uncountable hiking possibilities, many sport and recreational activities (rafting, canyoning, mountain biking, high wire parkur, tennis, bowling, fishing, horse riding, library, etc.) all of which guarantee for an entertaining and varied holiday.

Culinary delights such as Tyrolean “Knödel” (bread and smoked bacon dumplings), South Tyrolean “Speck” (smoked bacon), Tyrolean “G´röstl” (a meal with meat and fried potatoes), and many other Tyrolean as well as Italian specialties top off a holiday in the hospitable Ahrntal Valley.

To do something good for your health, you breathe freely with the pure air without pollen allergen in the climatic gallery at Prettau.

Together with a guide you can explore the wildlife in the nature park. You will get information about them through film and plans in the house of Nature Park.

One valley – one ski pass, valid for the ski areas of Speikboden and Klausberg, as well as the ski lifts in Rein in Taufers.

Winter fun is made available through many possibilities. The ski area of Speikboden has 2 Cabin-lifts, 4 chair-lifts, some children lifts and about 20 km of slope. The ski area of Klausberg has 2 Cabin-lifts, 4 chair-lifts, some children lift and about 20 km of slope. The ski area of Rein in Taufers has 1 chair-lift, 1 drag-lift and ca. 3 km of slope.

Alpine and cross- country ski schools, nursery ski schools for children with all-day supervision and a warm midday meal, ski service, ski rental, restaurants, gratis transport to the ski areas. Snow-shoe and winter hiking, a paradise for ice climbing, about 12 km of cross-country rails for beginners to advanced skiers are available in Weißenbach, about 15 km in Rein in Taufers, about 13 km in Mühlwald and about 10 km in Kasern.

Après Ski: wandering on sunny trails; games on ice; tobogganing (longest tobogganing route of Südtirol); disco; bowling, snowrafting.
